yoooo, i completed the demo!! with slightly under less than 20 hours.... and lvl 29 hero
although i did use a cheat/bug...
1) go to the recruit screen, then exit game 2) no matter how u get back in, either thru recruit, item cache, or 25% exp, you will get ONE EXTRA CHARACTER; however, the characters will not be the preset ones as determined by the recruit screen, it will just be a mixture of squires and archers
and so i defeated the games with my hero, one cleric, two knights, and three fighters (who are insanely op once leveled up to five) choosing the 25% exp route
We are aware of that bug. It won't be present in the early access version of the game, but does help survivability in the alpha demo!

You definitely need the right balance of damage dealers and tank/healing. You need to survive long enough to kill the gryphon, but deal damage fast enough to get the gryphon before it starts to use the Gale skill. Your best bet is to max out your classes, get the best late stage equipment you can and try to promote your units as early as possible (a Fighter that levelled up from level 1 is significantly stronger than a Fighter that was promoted from a Squire at level 12).
ooh, i didn't know about the early units leveling up tip thanks for that :D my current strat is to have two knights in the front, then two fighters at mid (they do good damage), and then my character and the healer at back
The "Gale" skill (not even the Netherblast ulti) of the final boss Gryphon seems to ensure a OHKO for the whole team, even my 400 HP knights, so I will temporarily give up for now :) see you at the next update. Good game.
I don't know if it is an expected behavior but Bodyguard's Target effect before Bodyguard's User and vice versa. If a 2x Knight cast Bodyguard on a 3x Unit, the 3x unit will have it's Bodyguard's effect finished early. This makes the effect weaker as sometimes the target cannot be protected at all before enemies' ulti, especially for high action units. Also, Bodyguard can be cast on itself with no effect, which should be removed.
I think it's a bug but whenever a unit is promoted, it loses some stats. For example, my lvl 20 Knight when promoted to Fighter, lost 1/3 of its stats, and when promoted back into a Knight, again lost 1/5 of its stats. Perhaps it removes the leveling up stats bonus, but it kinda crippled my units before the Gryphon fights.
Hey! Thanks for letting us know about this. We'll definitely check into this, because it shouldn't be the case. Could it happen because of different equipment (for example, if you promote from a Knight to a Fighter when you have a sword equipped, your sword will be unequipped because Fighters can't use swords)?
Thanks for the reply, I would have loved to reproduce it and take screenshots but it's a little inconvenient to repeat as a player, as I have to first bring my troops above lvl 12 for free promotion. However the test set up is simple. Bring any member to lvl 12, then remove the equipment, then promote them between their classes. I think it has to do with the leveling up stat bonus, for example a Knight that is trained since lvl 1 to lvl 10 will have different stats from a Squire or Fighter trained to lvl 10 then promoted to Knight. In my case my Knight rank is 5 and Fighter rank 3, resulting in different stats. Could you provide the details on stats up statistics, the table should clear up the confusion.
Ah, that's a good point. Each unit's stats are calculated like this: Base Stat + Level Up Stats.
The Base Stat depends on the class and rank of the class (a Knight with class rank 5 will have higher base stats than a Knight of class rank 3, a Fighter with class rank 5 will have certain base stats that are higher (ATK) and certain base stats that are lower (HP, DEF) than a Knight).
The Level Up Stats depend on which class you are when you level up the character - a unit that levels up 10 times as a Squire will have a much lower ATK than a unit that levels up 10 times as a Fighter.
If your Knight is rank 5 and Fighter is rank 3, then there's definitely a base stat difference that will drop the stats.
We'll test it to see if there are any other stat bugs affecting it. Thanks!
Just beat the first boss using a team of 5 melees (unexpectedly). Hero at lvl 15. Enjoyable gameplay that combined Tactics Orge March of The Red Queen with roguelike elements.
